In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the newly established Canada Student Service Grant (CSSG) offers post-secondary students volunteer-from-home placements with non-profit organizations and charities during summer 2020.
Beside building exceptional volunteer skill set and enhancing one’s resume, qualified students will be eligible to apply for a grant ranging from $1000 to $5000 depending on the amount of volunteer hours put in. Volunteers will have the chance to explore various opportunities, from research and planning, to creative writing, digital production and much more.
To be considered eligible, students must:
- be enrolled/are attending a post-secondary institution either during spring, summer, or fall 2020; or
- have completed their post-secondary education no earlier than December 2019; and
- be 30 years old or younger as of December 31st, 2020; and
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, First Nation, Métis or Inuit, or a holder of Refugee status.
Through CSSG, non-profit organization will also qualify for grants to offset the cost of volunteer opportunities, while also receiving support from motivated student volunteers and encouragement to promote the organization’s mission to the public.
